KNOLOGY CUP PLAYER OF THE YEAR

GiOnna DiSalvatore - Countryside High School with a 3.8 GPA

Date: 06.27.07 "GiOnna DiSalvatore is by far the finest athlete that I have coached in my 15 years in Pinellas County .  She has played a major role in the success of both the volleyball and softball programs at Countryside High School .  She is known throughout Florida as the best shortstop in the state.  Her work ethic is amazing and her athletic ability phenomenal.  She has been a leader in the classroom as well as in athletic competition.  For three of her four softball seasons she has batted over .500, as well as being the defensive leader at shortstop.  She was named All-State as a freshman.  As a sophomore she was recruited by over 100 Division I schools.  In her junior year she was named 1 st Team All-American as well as a Scholar/Athlete All-American.  She continues to work diligently to improve her skills as well as those of her teammates.  She never settles less and has proven over the past four years to be the best female athlete in the county." - Coach Kaylyn Bayly

Softball Statistics 2007 season as of the Class 6A Region Final

  • 37 for 73 with a batting average of .506 in 26 games played
  • 23 runs scored, 35 runs batted in, 11 doubles, 4 triples and 3 homeruns
  • She did not have a single error this season at shortstop

  • 2 year Captain & 4 year starter

  • Region Nominee for Gatorade "Player of the Year"
  • Wendy's High School Heisman recipient
  • Countryside Softball Most Outstanding Player

  • Pinellas County "Henry Deck Award" Recipient (Female Athlete of the Year)
  • PCAC Champion
  • Region Champion
  • State Final Four (will be played this Friday)
